A Helping Hand. A Comforting Presence.
Companions at our retirement community do much more than the name suggests. While regulations prevent them from providing hands-on care, the companion is frequently a help in maintaining a high level of senior living independence by decreasing the three plagues of old age: loneliness, helplessness and boredom, as discussed by expert geriatrician Dr. Bill Thomas. The carefully selected staff member(s) fight these plagues by:
- Light housekeeping and laundry
 - Meal preparation
 - Medication reminders
 - Respite care
 - Transitional care
 - Transportation services including shopping and errands
 - Engaging in stimulating conversation
 - Reading the newspaper, mail or a favorite book
 - Recreational activities of interest including card/board games and more
 - Assistance with correspondence
